DescriptionStudied law at Lausanne and Marburg. Châtelain de Villette (1748). Assesseur baillival at Lausanne (1754-1771). He was consulted by Frederick II of Prussia in connection with the Gaudot affair at Neuchâtel (1768), and was assigned the preparation of a code of laws for that principality, but he died before the project could be completed. He was named successor to Béat-Philippe Vicat at the Académie de Lausanne at the end of 1770, and installed at in March, 1771, but he had too little time in this position to influence the teaching of law at Lausanne. Member of the Société économique de Berne (1763). He and his wife were friends of Voltaire.
